Be creative, there's many ways to incorporate fire into a piece! The entire piece does NOT need to be fire, but the MAIN ELEMENT in the piece must be FIRE!
New deviations only, must be created specifically for this contest.
Must, of course, use CorelDRAW to do the Vector.
Must be a Member of #CorelDRAW-Vectorists!
Members may submit up to 2 entries for this contest. Entries are subject to vote.
You MUST put in your Artist's Comments that your piece is an entry for this Contest and state that you did the work in CorelDRAW.
Deadline:  May 24, 2010 (this gives you a whole month!)

The theme will run across 7 contests, each dealing with one of the Sins.



The first Contest will focus on:


LUST

Lust or lechery is usually thought of as excessive thoughts or desires of a sexual nature. Aristotle's criterion was excessive love of others, which therefore rendered love and devotion to God as secondary. In Dante's Purgatorio, the penitent walks within flames to purge himself of lustful/sexual thoughts and feelings. In Dante's "Inferno", unforgiven souls of the sin of lust are blown about in restless hurricane like winds symbolic of their own lack of self control to their lustful passions in earthly life.

All mediums are welcome, we have amazing artists of all kinds in this group and this is a theme that all can show/interpret in their work. I cant wait to see the results

I hope everyone's having a good January I'm back at work now since last week, and wow was it a struggle to have to wake up early again! lol Last week was fairly slow, but this week we've been flat-out busy with new orders and trying to get a few older orders done, but I sure don't mind, it's great to be back in the swing of things and a busy day goes by pretty fast   I'm still having a hard time getting my creative juices flowing again, but maybe being back and work and doing my design work there, I'll get going again with my personal artwork as well...here's hoping anyway

Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year to all my dA friends!

I hope your holidays are wonderful in whatever way you celebrate, or even if you don't! We're going to the Out-Laws for Christmas lunch and probably for Christmas dinner as well (leftovers from lunch!).

My hubby, Wayne, gave me my Christmas present early a couple of weeks ago, a baby Major Mitchell Cockatoo , and she's just lovely!  I've named her Matilda She's finally starting to play with her seed a bit, so hopefully it won't be long and I can stop the 4-hour feedings He got a lawnmower motor...lol...and an MP3 player for his car since his CD player stopped working a while back. I've filled it with Slim Dusty and Johnny Cash for him Hey, we celebrate early around here!

Just a couple of things I wanted to throw into my journal here, maybe y'all can help these awesome artists out with a couple of things:

As for me, it's been a crazy week with a Christmas get-together on Tuesday night, an Awards night at the high school on Wednesday, where my husband handed out the Year 7 awards, a full week of work and tomorrow night another Christmas party for our local Rotary and Inner Wheel clubs. I'll be glad when this week is over!  Next week is a little quieter, but the next couple of weeks after we'll be pretty busy again.  I've got a couple of projects in the making, working on them when I find the time, and should have something new posted soon

Hi everyone!!
I thought it was time to update my journal Sorry I've not really been doing much lately, I hurt my back a couple of weeks ago (an old injury that flares up if I sneeze wrong), so sitting (and laying and standing and walking) has been a little bit of a problem. It's a little better this week though, my chiropractor finally got some good movement out of it and was able to crack my spine from top to bottom (I know that sounds awful, but believe me, it's not, it feels pretty good actually!) So hopefully, now that sitting isn't excruciating, only a wee bit uncomfortable, I'll be able to be here and get some stuff done

Firstly, The Secret Vexy Project!! If you're into Vectors/Vexels, and I know a lot of my watchers and friends are, though most of you are already in the club I think (if you're not, you should be!!), are doing a Secret Vexy project for the holidays! It's really neat, kind of like a Secret Santa thing if you've ever done that. Basically you put your name down if you want to participate (click this [link] to sign up!) You're then randomly given a person to make a vector piece for, only you won't know who they are, and whoever gets you as their Secret Vexy won't know who you are either! Deadline to join is Nov 20th and your piece is to be finished by Dec 31

Secondly, I wanted to feature a couple of awesome artists and share them with y'all.  These are people who I'd love to be able to look over their shoulders while they work and take in a few of their secrets! If ya have time, take a peek at their galleries, I promise you won't be disappointed!

I fell in love with this lady's work from the first piece I saw of hers, she's just awesome, both as an artist and as a person! Just the other day we realised we share the same birthday, May 1st! She's very helpful and chatty and all-around wonderful! Here's just a few of my faves from her gallery (it's SO hard to choose!!)

A couple of days ago, browsing the Daily Deviations, this one caught my eye:

I'm a sucker for anything with hearts on it, but couldn't read the words in the small view, so I clicked on it and, well, I was simply amazed by what this is!

has been making these little love notes and inspirational messages and slipping them into library books for the next person who checks out the book to find! It's such a simple, wonderful, thoughtful and selfless thing to do, and who knows how many days she has brightened for people in her area; who knows how much she has touched someone by leaving a note that says simply, "You are beautiful," or "Never give up." Such simple little messages that could possibly have quite a profound impact.  

Well, along with the DD that she received for her love notes, the overwhelming response and amount of people who have said to her that they are going to start doing this too, has resulted in the start of the Library Love Notes Campaign.
So check it out and pass the word along! I think this is the start of something beautiful

I've known Loch online for almost 3 years now and I had the pleasure of meeting him in person last year while I was in the USA visiting my family. I was most happy to find out that he is as wonderful in person as he is online!

What inspires you?
I'm sure for each of us it's something or someone different.

Rainy days inspire me...the sound of the rain on the roof calms me and clears my mind and my soul.

Emotions..all of them..inspire me, wanting to grab that flash of anger or the sparkle of pure joy in someone's eyes and capture it for all time.

Children inspire me, for their innocence, their curiosity, their laughter...their freedom.

And of course there are people who inspire me, each for different reasons...

I've known Andrew for a lot longer than I've been on dA, but he's the reason I'm here and the main reason I keep coming back. Andrew is simply brilliant, with his artwork and in his friendship, and I honestly don't know what I would do or where I would be without him. Check out his gallery and I'm sure you'll agree that he's a man of many talents, so good at all of them that it's impossible to choose a favourite! Andrews artwork, as well as his unfailing support, forever inspire me to be a better artist, a better person. Thanks for all you do, Andrew, you're the best!


Thelma is a beautiful lady, and I look forward to her fractals and photos as well as her sweet and funny notes and journals. She always knows how to brighten one's day and is always ready with hearts and hugs You're a true gem, Thelma, and it's a pleasure knowing you!


, and : I don't claim to "know" these artists, but I eagerly await the next additions to their galleries. Each one is so creative in their own right and never fail to make me say "OMG!" or "WOW!" and always inspire me to do more, to do better.



There are, of course, other people who inspire me who aren't on dA, but I thought I'd take the time to thank those of you who are here. Without you all, I wouldn't enjoy my time here nearly as much as I do, and I thank you all for everything you contribute to my inspirations

Let me set the scene a bit.  
I live in rural New South Wales, Australia, on a small farm about 20k from the nearest town, Population about 7000.
"Traffic" for me is a cow on the road, or a kangaroo threatening to jump onto the road.

I was going to town today to get a few groceries, and I saw up ahead on the road someone riding a horse.  Not an uncommon sight around here. He had on faded jeans, a long weather-beaten leather coat and a dusty old hat on his head. My mind wandered a bit, thinking that this scene, him on horseback, his clothing, the dust rising behind him...it could have been a scene from 100, 200 years ago...until I got closer and passed him and saw him talking on a mobile phone.
