Hello!

Journal Entry: Thu Oct 28, 2010, 3:09 AM

Hello, my friends! Just thought I'd update my Journal a bit and check how all of you are.  It's been a crazy few weeks for me, with very little time for anything artistic outside of work. My job has taken a front seat to most everything at the moment.  We're a 5 person operation when everyone is there, but we're down two people at the moment, which makes things somewhat hectic for the 3 of us left.  Our receptionist had her baby a few weeks ago, followed by our supervisor's wife, who had her baby this past Saturday. He's been in and out of the office, but not working full days just yet, and that's understandable!  But wow, it's amazing what two less sets of hands will do to an office. We're hanging in there, but only just! Hopefully things will be back to normal soon. Meanwhile mothers and babies and daddys are all doing fine! And what gorgeous babies they are...two boys, Sam and Beau :D

Some of you know that a very good friend of mine was in a head-on collision a couple of weeks ago, which has added greatly to my stress and worry. She was in pretty bad shape and was in ICU for a week in an induced coma, and we weren't sure if she was going to make it or not. There were no brain or spinal injuries, thank goodness, though her left foot and ankle and entire right leg were crushed, 5 ribs detached and broken from her sternum, a punctured lung, broken elbow and right hand (good thing she's a leftie!) and a myriad of cuts and bruises. She was released from ICU and given her own room last weekend, and I was so happy to get to see her! She looked pretty rough, but she was in awesome spirits and laughing and making jokes, and is looking forward to getting to come home and start her rehabilitation. She has a tough road ahead of her, but she's a fighter and nothing's going to keep her down for long. When we were leaving, she said 'Drive carefully...and please don't take that lightly!'  Seeing someone going through all that she's been through sure makes you think twice when you get behind the wheel. This wasn't even her fault. She was coming home from visiting a sick neice, and in an instant her life could have been over. She was very lucky. The couple in the other vehicle weren't. They were killed on impact. I still haven't heard what the outcome of the investigation was, as to what happened and why their car went into oncoming traffic. I guess it doesn't really matter. We're just very, very thankful that she will be alright, and very, very sorry for the people who lost their lives. Such a tragic thing.

Well that's probably enough rambling from me for now. I'm exhausted. Think it's time to curl up with a good book and call it a day.
G'night all! :hug::love::heart:

Dang, sorry you've been in so many accidents involving drunk drivers :( I hope none of them were very bad. My friend's accident wasn't alcohol related, though they're still not sure why it happened. The couple in the other car were both in their 80's, so they're thinking maybe he (the driver) had some kind of attack or something :(

Yeah I reckon any accident that you can walk away from is a blessing!

My friend is doing much better, thanks hun :D They moved her to our local hospital and think she'll be able to go home soon, though it'll still be 6 weeks at least until she's allowed to put any weight on either leg. But just being home would be wonderful for her :)

Wow, sobering story. When you hear something like that, you always drive a little more carefully... for a while.

Yeah. I think the careful driving effect lasts a while longer when it's someone you know. There's always stories on the news about horrific accidents that make you stop and think a bit when you get behind the wheel, but when it's someone you know, someone you're close to...I dunno, I keep getting flashes of all of her injuries and pictures of the car...makes me a lot more aware when I'm driving.

Car accidents are so scary! I've never truly been in one myself, meaning I was in the car with my cousin and she crossed this cross road and a car suddenly popped up from the left. He only hit the back of the car so basically the most annoying issue in that story is that he was a bit of an ass and was talking insurance about his car most part of the day. Which was ridiculous because my cousin's car was in worse shape then his, and he literally had come out of nowhere.

anyway... I hope your friend keeps doing alright! :heart::tighthug:

and I hope that good book was indeed a good book! =D And..... Thank you so much for the feature, both of those pieces! Thank youuuu :hug: Love ya!

I'm glad no one was hurt in your cousin's car accident! They're never fun to deal with, all the insurance, etc, and worse if the person is a jerk about it. Sounds like it was his fault, I hope your cousin got her car fixed by his insurance!
Thanks for your well wishes for my friend :) She's getting a little better every day :)
And my pleasure on the features! :tighthug: Love ya too girl :D
